Following my last post on story boarding, the following week we were instructed to do the exact same thing; but this time we were given snippet scenes from multiple different stories to choose from. Out of the many short snippet stories I chose this one.
IN THE GARDEN
Standing there in the garden, she saw him running towards her. "Tina! my flower! The love of my life!" He'd said it at last. "Oh Tom!" "Tina, my flower!" "Oh Tom! I love you too!" Tom reached her, knelt down and quickly pushed her aside. "My flower! You're standing on my prize-winning rose!"
Of course for this one, we could interpret the script however we wanted for our individual story boards, and I chose to do mine in more of a shoujo inspired style to create my story board. For those who do not know what shoujo is, it is a genre that is common in Japanese anime, and it focuses more on the relationships and romance in the story rather than fighting and action. The series tend to be more dramatic, but also still have scenes of adventure, comedy and action, in addition it often tends more to female audiences and is mostly known for depicting the romantic journey of a young high school female character; an example of this could be Sukitte li Na Yo (Say I Love You) or Ouran Koukou Host Club (Ouran High School Host Club). Either way, in the end I chose to depict this female lead character in the script as a high school student yet to experience a journey of romance. I found the humor in the snippet perfect for this style, as well as the false build up making the audience believe Tom would confess his undying love for her.

This was the rough story board I did for the snippet story and I hope it was enjoyable, or at least decent to view. In addition, I know this is unrelated to the topic but if anyone is interested in getting into Shoujo anime you can check out the ones I listed in this blog post; however me being a huge anime fan, if anyone wants to check out some fantasy shoujo, with gods, dragons, demons, yokai and basically anything supernatural and romance related I'd recommend to check out Kamisama Kiss, Fruits Basket or Yona Of The Dawn.
